Holistic Approach

Michelle Walsh uses an integrative approach to working with clients, while incorporating both eastern holistic philosophies and evidence based western psychology. These approaches complement one another and encourage involvement in one's own healing.  Michelle focuses on the integration of body, mind and spirit as a way to return to a balanced sense of wellbeing and happiness, incorporating techniques such as:

  • Yogic and Buddhist psychology
  • Psychotherapy
  • Relaxation strategies
  • Self-care and nutrition

Through a holistic approach, addressing physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual imbalances, the body, mind and spirit are brought back into equilibrium.  By integrating Contemplative Psychotherapy, there is an emphasis on mindful awareness and emotional wellbeing.  In essence, this approach promotes self-awareness, introspection, self-acceptance, cognitive and behavioral change, as well as a deepening connection to self and others.

Together with Michelle, clients will assess areas of imbalance and create an individualized wellness plan designed for one's specific goals and needs.  By developing an awareness of the ways in which intrinsic health is blocked and examining one's experience, the opportunity to open to a healthier, balanced state is created.  Combining cognitive therapy and mindfulness practices with movement allows one to ground the experience in the body, and feel a positive change in the moment.  This process is the beginning of increasing wisdom, insight, and a change in patterns, resulting in a calming of the mind, body, and spirit.  You do not need to have experience with any of these practices to experience their powerful effects.
